UPDATE: We are doing double play with 8 ball and 9 ball on Friday nights in Columbia. Cost is $6 per league ($12 total) plus a $25 commitment fee refundable at the end of the season but forfeited if you drop out. First night is Oct 3rd if we have enough participation.
That's right. We can now have a SINGLES league....and the possibilities are endless on the format. Here is what must be done regardless on format:
Nationals Qualifications.
4 to 6 players -- Winner qualifies
7 to 8 players --- 1 st and 2nd qualify
9 to 12 players --- 1st thru 3rd qualify
13+ --1st thru 4th qualify
Other Hard Requirements.
Max number of players is 16 per division
Cannot play same leagues on same night. ie team 8 ball and then singles 8 ball
Handicaps change each night just like normal league
Must use www.napaplay.com
No minimum number of matches to qualify
Minimum of 4 players per division (but I would like to see at least 8)
If doing two formats or more per night the payouts must be separate. For example if playing 8 ball and 9 ball payouts are separate for 8 ball and 9 ball. NOT combined.
No handicap limits if done as one league. True NAPA races.
As a league operator I will only give trophy for first place and MVP (only one, not male/female) and no MVP money.
Here are out choices as a league for format.
Format (all same night, our choice)
8 ball (only)
9 ball (only)
10 ball (only)
Laggers Choice (lagger chooses game)
Double play (8,9, or 9,10, or 8,10)
Triple play (8, 9, 10 ball)
Division choices.
Open to all handicaps and players as one division
Split by handicap. For example 80 and above or 79 and below
Dues choices
Only play one format like 8 ball, I would say $8-10 with $1 going to tourny fund.
Double play could be total of $15 ($7 each format and $1 tournament fund)
Triple play could be total of $19 ($6 each format and $1 tournament fund)
Or what every the players want! Each Division can be different.
Payouts.
Realize that with only one person teams the payouts will only be about 25% of what they are now.
Currently we pay top 50% of teams but in singles we can change to top 25%, or top 2, 3, or 4, etc.
Payouts for each division can be different!
Night.
Any night but keep in mind in Columbia we play 8 ball on Monday and Tuesday and 9 ball on Wednesday. In Jeff City we play 8 ball on Tuesday. I would like to keep these in place.
Season length and when to start. I would like to keep 15 weeks as the length. We could start with the next session.
Here is where I would like to have your input. I would love to start a singles league but when, what format, and cost, and payouts. All suggestions are welcome but I will make the final decision.
