NAPA OF CENTRAL MISSOURI 2016 TOP SHARK TOURNAMENT
NAPA of Central Missouri holds a FREE ENTRY, LOCAL tournament between Columbia and Jefferson City. The tournament is known as the Top Shark Tournament. In 2016 it was on June 4-5.
- Each player pays $1 a week dues to fund the tournament.
- This tournament is FREE entry unless the leagues wants to add to the payouts. The more teams, the more money in payouts. It is to your benefit to recruit more players into NAPA so the payouts can be the highest they can be.
- This is to reward the players who play in NAPA and not to reward those players that only play one season and quit.
- To qualify for this tournament you MUST play at least FIVE matches a season and TWO out of THREE seasons in NAPA.
In 2014 (the first year) it was $ 6,500
In 2015 it was $ 7,500.
- This tournament was $7,500 split up among handicap levels. There were four handicap skill levels. The handicap divisions will be determined by how many players are in each division. Payouts will range from the top 2 to the top 16 if we have enough players.
For 2016 it is $ 9,000!!
- The first session to qualify for the 2016 Shark Tournament was the summer season in 2015. If you shoot two nights in a season it only counts as one season. You would still need another season. Your handicap will be your current 8 ball handicap at the time of the tournament. Deadline is May 31st. Your handicap at that time will determine what group you will be shooting with. It will be double elimination with the races to be determined. It is a singles 8 ball tournament with NAPA rules. We are selling T-Shirts for the tournament for $15. HERE is what they look like. Sizes are in limited quantities so if you want one just send me an email.
We have 106 players that qualified and registered for the tournament this year 82 from Columbia and 24 from Jeff City. Last year we had 89 with 61 from Columbia and 28 from Jeff City.
The four handicap groups will be split up this way:
0-41 handicaps start at 10 AM in Jeff City at The Outpost 28 players
42-58 handicaps start at 10 AM in Columbia at MO River 25 players
59-77 handicaps start at noon in Jeff City at The Outpost 28 players
78+ handicaps start at noon in Columbia at MO River 25 players
If you are dissatisfied with where you are playing you can “upgrade” to the next higher level but must start at the lowest handicap in that level. For example if you are a 28 in Columbia you are scheduled to play in Jeff City. If for some reason you want to play in Columbia you can play in the 42-58 handicap group but must play as a 42. I need to know that BEFORE the tournament.
The tournament will be double elimination. It will be played by NAPA rules with the exception of the one game in the losers bracket. If the 8 is made on the break it is spotted and the shooter continues play. Races are not by the race matrix but are close. We kept the 1 game race because NAPA says it is statistically 50-50 to win or lose and that is what every race should be.
In the winners bracket the races will be:
The start times are for Saturday, June 4. Both The Oupost and MO River will open at 9 AM for practice.
0-41 0-23 handicap difference race to 2, 24+ handicap difference a 2-1 race Start time is 10 AM at the Outpost in Jeff City
42-58 0-10 handicap difference 3-3 race, 11+ handicap difference a 3-2 race. Start time is 10 AM at MO River
